Emily's Atlanta Field Trip

I had so much fun with Emily on her field trip to Atlanta!  I felt so blessed to be able to spend the day with her!  We went to the Georgia Aquarium, CNN Center, and Coca Cola museum.  Here are some pictures of our wonderful day:

Georgia Aquarium, with the Beluga whale...

...with the penguins...

...petting a sting ray...

...and looking cute in front of an enormous fish tank

At the CNN Center

At the Coca Cola museum

I am so grateful I got to spend the day with my sweet girl!

Kids' Marathon

Andrew and Daniel participated in a Kids' Marathon on Saturday.  I went with them, and we ran/walked for 1.2 miles.  I thought Daniel wanted to do it and I knew Andrew wanted to do it, so I signed them up.  Daniel later informed me that he absolutely did NOT want to do it.  He has become way too interested in video games and I want him to get out in the fresh air more often, so I told him that we were going to do it and I promised him I would be there the whole time.  Once he got there and saw all of the other kids from his school who were running, too, he was a little more excited about it.  Andrew did great, and got pretty far ahead of us.  Daniel and I held hands most of the time and I just kept encouraging him.  He talked and talked to me the whole time, and it was wonderful.  We did it!  Great job, boys!

Emily's Birthday

Emily turned 11 this week!  She was so excited!  We had cake and presents at home on Thursday, and she had a small party on Friday.  She wanted to do dinner and a movie with her friends, but there were no movies that she wanted to see so we did dinner and manicures instead.  I think everyone had a great time.  I know Emily sure did!

Basketball and Dance

Andrew and Nathaniel both did YMCA Basketball this winter.  Nathaniel's team went to the playoffs, and Andrew's team won the championship for their age group!

Emily and Michael went to their Daddy Daughter Dance at the YMCA again this year.  They had a great time, as usual.  This time the theme was Winter Wonderland instead of Valentine's Day.

Snow Days

We had snow in Alabama this week!  The kids were out of school on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  We had a good time.  Each day we spent the morning doing some chores, and then played in the afternoon.  On Tuesday, the kids (except for Daniel) had fun playing in the snow.  We had invited some friends in the neighborhood to come over and they all had a great time.  By Thursday, the snow was basically melted.

Oh, by the way--it is 74 degrees today. Crazy weather, huh?

Pinewood Derby

Andrew had his first Pinewood Derby last week.  He did great!  He came in first on one of the races.  He knew exactly what design he wanted--a green truck with fire on the side.  Michael helped him with the shape of the car, and I helped him paint it and put on the fire decals.  He got the award for "Most Creative Use of Materials."

Hat Day

Friday was "Hat Day" at Jonathan's preschool. I thought he would want the cute conductor's hat that Daniel used to wear a lot.  Jonathan quickly rejected it and chose this one instead.  This John Deere hat is one that Daniel sweet-talked his Great Grandpa Horsfall out of during our last family visit to Iowa. He looked so cute I had to take a picture.  After I did, Jonathan said, "It's my Santa hat!" "Why is it your Santa hat?" I asked. "Because it has a reindeer on it." Hahahahaha
