Charlie is Here!!!

We are grandparents! Charlie was born today at 9:59 AM! I sat down at the computer to do some work and it was about noon when I sent a text to Nathaniel asking him if he was able to get the car seat in securely. About half an hour later, he sent me a picture of him holding Charlie and the caption, "Surprise!"

I sat there in complete shock. I told Nathaniel congratulations and asked if he could call and he did. As we were talking, I heard Audrey on the phone and she was talking to Karen and telling her the news at the same time. We're thrilled that he's here and he's healthy! He was 7 pounds and 7 ounces. Audrey went into labor last night at 10:30 PM. She had gone to bed and her water broke. She got an epidural and had to push for almost two hours. They were both exhausted. I FaceTimed with Nathaniel for a little while and took a screenshot so I could see a clear picture of Charlie's face. He's so cute! His face is all puffy and red like newborns are but he's still adorable.

We tried to get Michael on the FaceTime, too, which was kind of a giveaway to Michael of what was going on, but Michael was at the post office at that time and couldn't answer. So, Nathaniel sent the same picture to the family group text and everyone was happy. He also sent a message to the Facebook messenger group chat so Papa could see. A few hours later, he called us on Facebook messenger and we talked for a little while. Unfortunately, Andrew wasn't able to join us. As soon as we said goodbye to Nathaniel, who had to go because the nurse had come into the room, that's when Andrew called so he never got to talk to Nathaniel today as far as I know. Nathaniel had called at 4:45 PM thinking that would work for Andrew because he said he would be available until 5 PM our time, but it turns out Andrew was teaching a lesson right at that time and that's why he couldn't answer. So, we talked to Andrew for a few minutes and then he had to go.

Welcome to the world, Charles Michael!

Swim Team Banquet

Tonight, we went to Daniel's swim banquet. It's so weird that we're done with those forever. They had the same dinner as always with ziti, chicken alfredo, salad, and bread.

I recorded Daniel's coach talking about him when he got his three-year varsity award. One nice thing that Michael remembered she said for that award is that he is a role model for the other members of the team.

However, later, she gave him the Knight award, but I didn't realize until it was too late that she was talking about him and Cole so I didn't record it but I did record as he went up to accept the plaque. Here are some of the things she said (I know there is more but this is what I could remember and Michael contributed): She couldn't choose between the two boys so that's why she gave two awards, she said one of them missed one day of practice because she sent him home because he was sick so that must've been Cole, she said they were always the first ones in the pool and the last ones out, they always helped out until she had to say they needed to stop helping out so other people could do it, and they are always cheering on their team. She also said to the rest of the team that they have big shoes to fill now that they're graduating.

Alex, Mia Onofre, Daniel, and Cole Sullivan

It was a wonderful night. Afterwards, we took a bunch of pictures and helped a little bit with cleanup. Daniel and I stayed after and Michael took Jonny home. Daniel helped take the speaker back to a classroom and I talked to the Gassaways a little bit.

Here is Daniel in the hoodie they gave out to the seniors.

We couldn't be prouder of you, son!

Emily's Trip to Washington, D. C.

Emily had a fantastic time in Washington, D. C. with the BYU Universe staff! We were a little worried for her safety, but she was always with someone and had a great experience.
