First Day of School

This felt like the shortest summer ever!  I was completely unprepared for the boys to go back to school.  I'm so glad they had a great first day!

Pocono NASCAR Race

While we were at home with Nathaniel and Audrey, Michael and Dad went to the race in Pocono.  Dad was a big help in the booth and they had a great time watching the race.  Ricky and the SweetLeaf car finished in 18th place.

The Lion King musical

I am so happy we were able to go to The Lion King musical at ASU Gammage!  I had tickets to take Nathaniel in July 2020 after he returned from his mission but, of course, it was cancelled because of Covid.  When I saw that it was here again, I jumped at the chance to get tickets.  Even better, Nathaniel and Audrey flew down to spend the weekend with us.  On Saturday, we went to lunch at Gecko Grill.  We came home and relaxed a bit and then got ready for the play.  We had great seats in the 10th row.  We even got special VIP programs and bags.  The show was amazing!  We loved when the characters walked down the aisles to the stage.  The costumes were fantastic!  I've never seen anything like it.  Daniel especially loved the costumes.  The scene where Simba sees the image of Mufasa in the stars was spectacular and Nathaniel and I especially enjoyed that part.  Michael wasn't able to go because he went to the race in Pocono, so we invited my sister-in-law Erin to go with us.  We all loved it!!!

Six Flags Hurricane Harbor

I asked Andrew and Daniel what they would like to do as an end-of-summer family activity and also a reward for enduring Trek, and Andrew's suggestion was Sun Splash.  I said that was a good idea, but maybe we could try a new waterpark.  This time, we went to Hurricane Harbor.  It is an hour away but it is a really nice park and we had a great time.  I rented a cabana so I had a place to relax while the kids went on slides and it was a great place to keep our stuff.  We all had lunch together and then we put our valuables in a locker and I went on a few slides with the kids.  It was a fun day, but we were all exhausted when we were done!

Pioneer Trek

Andrew and Daniel had a great experience on their Pioneer Trek.  They left on Thursday, bright and early, and rode a chartered bus for five hours to Cherry Valley, California.  They pulled handcarts and walked eight miles on Thursday, four on Friday, and one and a half on Saturday and they came home Saturday night.  They both really enjoyed a presentation by a Marine who came to talk to them about his career and gave them a great lesson about the power of God.  This was for the boys while the girls did the Women's Pull, where the women and girls pulled the handcarts by themselves.  They had devotionals at night and a dance on Friday night.  Their "ma's and pa's" had nothing but great things to say about our boys.  They worked hard and had good attitudes and were very helpful to their "families."  They even left their phones at home!  I'm so glad they were able to have this experience!

Ready to go!

Michael's Birthday

We had fun celebrating Michael's birthday today!  We met him for lunch at a new Chinese buffet near the office called Pacific Seafood Buffet.  This evening, we sang to him and he opened his presents and we ate his requested cake: Texas sheet cake!  Then we all went to the movies to see Thor: Love and Thunder.

Happy Birthday, Michael!
