San Diego Trip

Last week, I had the crazy idea to take a quick trip to San Diego.  I knew my sister Betsy wanted to go and that her husband Geoff was too busy with work and wouldn't be able to go with them.  I asked the kids if they would like to go and if they would be willing to help Betsy and her kids.  They all said yes, so I asked Betsy if she wanted to go and she did so we went!

We drove to San Diego on Monday.  We stayed at a Homewood Suites just down the street from the Courtyard Marriot where Betsy and her kids stayed.

On Tuesday, we drove to Legoland.  They opened at 10am and we got there a little early and got right in.  We had so much fun!

When we were at Legoland in Florida in 2014, we rode the Coastersaurus.  The picture that was taken of us on that ride was so funny that I had to buy it.  I almost never buy those pictures, but this one is a classic.  Even though Nathaniel wasn't with us, we did our best to re-create it.  I think we did a pretty good job.

On Wednesday, we went to Sea World.  I really like Sea World.  Last time we went, in 2019, I remember thinking it would be nice to go back because we didn't get to see all the animal shows I wanted to see.  We saw the orca show, but we had missed the dolphins and sea lions.  Well, this time we saw them all!  We had so much fun and the kids had a great time on the rides.  The wait times were pretty long for the good roller coasters, but all the kids got to ride the ones they wanted to ride so everyone was happy.

On Thursday, we slept in and got checked out.

As we were getting ready, the power went out in our room.  When we called the front desk, they asked if we were using a hair dryer.  Yes, we were.  Hello??  So they know this is a regular problem?  A maintenance man came up and flipped the breaker for us.  We could have easily done that if I knew where the breaker box was, lol.  Anyway, we got on the road and stopped to eat at Marie Callender's and had a nice, uneventful trip home.  It's the last weekend before the boys start school!
