July 3, Monday
Anyway, I got up this morning at 5:20 AM so that we could be ready to go to breakfast at 7 AM. We went to Midore restaurant bakery on the corner. They didn't have a big selection, certainly not as much as they had at lunchtime and not as much as they had at Colisee Gourmet, but we all found something we could eat. Mostly I ate junk: an almond croissant and a raspberry macaron. The almond croissant was one of my favorite things I ate on this trip! We went back to the hotel and gathered our things and finish getting ready and met at 7:45 AM. I was having a little bit of anxiety because I was stressed about being gone for the entire day and making sure I had everything I needed today. I think it was maybe 8 AM by the time we left the hotel. We walked over to the Auber train station and caught the RER A train to Disneyland Paris.
Entrance into Disney Studios
The kids wanted to ride the Twilight Zone Tower
of Terror first. I really hate that ride, but I wanted to be with them so I
went on it. I was surprised that Jonny was willing to go on it. We used our
premier access but it wasn't the best idea if we wanted to ride it again
because the regular wait was only 20 minutes. The freefall drops are really
hard for me, but it was pretty fun. I went to the photo screens afterwards and
I took a picture so I would know the code but there's nowhere to do it on the
app. I went to the photo counter and it turns out that the photo package is
totally different than it is at Disneyland. It is not included with Premier
access, which is pretty ridiculous.
After the Tower of Terror, we headed straight
over to Web Slingers. That was fun! Jonny's score was 183,600 and he beat us
all. Emily had only 1000 less than that and Daniel and Michael tied. I think I
had the lowest.
After Web Slingers, we went over to Flight
Force. I had no idea what to expect. I was feeling bad that I hadn’t had time
to research Disneyland Paris, but it all worked out. I knew Flight Force was a
roller coaster and that's pretty much all I knew. Boy, was that one a shock! It
was in the dark like Space Mountain, and we did some flips and 360° turns. I
definitely was not prepared for that.
By then, it was 11:05 AM. We knew that Bistro
Chez Remy would open at 11:30 AM so we headed over there to see if we could get
on the walk-up list.
This is the Ratatouille area
There were some people sitting at the tables
outside the restaurant and the restaurant was closed and locked and there was
no one to ask. We sat there for a few minutes and then I decided I needed to go
stand by the door to claim my place in line. It worked out perfectly. Another
couple came up next to me and also wanted to go in and they kind of just stood
there in front of the door like they were first but I wasn't going to have any
of that. Emily came up to join me and a pretty big line formed behind us. As
soon as they opened the door, I said hello and followed her straight in there.
I asked if there was any way we could get on their list. She started checking
and then seemed like she might be able to get us in for lunch. I can't remember
if she said it or I said it, but I said we will take any time but if you have
something now that would be perfect. She was able to get us a table right then.
She asked us to sit down for a minute and they would seat us so that worked out
perfectly. The restaurant was amazing! The details are so creative. The seat
backs look like little bottle caps. I took lots of pictures and video.
Once we got off that ride, we headed over to
Crush’s Coaster. I had no idea what to expect on that one. It looked kind of
like a kiddie ride but it really wasn't. It was definitely a roller coaster,
but the seats that you sat in were unique and they would spin around as well as
go on the track. It kind of felt like you were riding the waves a little
bit. It was so fun!
We passed Toy Story Land on the way to Crush's Coaster
Crush's Coaster Ride
This is how the shell moves on the ride
We went over to Space Mountain. This premier
access that we've been using has been fabulous. We used it on all five rides
that we did at Disney Studios. It's like a fast pass but even better
because you don't have to schedule it, you just get in a separate line. I was
so glad we used it for Space Mountain because the queue was outside in the sun.
Space Mountain was totally different than what were used to. It had a harness
that comes over your head just like the Incredicoaster. Crush’s Coaster
and Flight Force had that, as well. Anyway, I really hated that Space Mountain
ride. It flipped us a couple times, but I don't know how, and part of it is outside
so that was interesting. That was three intense roller coasters so far. We
don't have nearly that many in California.
Space Mountain queueThis is where you get onto the canal boats. It reminded me of getting on Grizzly River Run at California Adventure because the round platform turns slowly as you step into the boats.
On the way over to the canal boats, we passed
the Alice in Wonderland maze and Michael mentioned it but all the kids had
passed it by and I didn't think they would care too much about it. After the
canal boats, we mentioned it and they all seemed to get kind of excited about
that. I didn’t think they would care about it so I was surprised. It said it
closed at 9:00 PM but we went over there anyway. By then it was after 9 PM and
it turned out it was open until 9:30 PM so everybody was happy about that.
Everyone found their way through the maze and went up into the little play
castle thing. It was really cute.
We had decided that we would go into the maze
and then Emily would look up the times for the rides at Disney Studios. Jonny
really wanted to go back over there with Emily, so we split up and Daniel came
with us. Michael and Andrew went on Space Mountain and the rest of us hiked
back over to Disney Studios. The Hollywood Tower of Terror wait was only 15
minutes so I was going to carry backpacks for Daniel, Emily, and Jonny and let
them go on the ride, but they quickly found out that the wait was actually 30
minutes so we went on Web Slingers again instead. By then it was 10 PM and the
park was closed and there was no other chance of getting on another ride so we
walked back over to Disneyland again. Michael and Andrew had just finished
Space Mountain so we met them at Star Tours. The line was so short we didn't
even have an opportunity to use premier access. After that, Andrew and Jonny
went to Autopia and the rest of us started to head out of the park. I wanted to
go to the photo shop and see if they had any English toffee in the candy
shop. I bought one digital photo and couldn’t find any toffee. We all ended up
meeting back up in that little main street gazebo area and that's about when
the fireworks ended so there was a huge crowd. We all left and walked to the
train station and bought tickets and got on the train. We got on the train at
11:25 PM, just a few minutes before it was scheduled to leave. Emily, Jonny,
and Daniel all found seats and so did I but Michael and Andrew had to stand the
whole time. We had a little bit of an issue getting through the turnstiles
because the tickets weren’t working, but thankfully a worker came and we explained
the situation we were able to leave. It took us a minute to figure out the best
way to get out but Michael got out the walking directions and got us back to
the hotel.
